Atlas Magnetics is pleased to announce that four new 20-pin programmable mixed-signal μASICs — the AM1U1120, AM1U1220, AM1U1320, and AM1U1420 — have entered mass production.
The new devices give electronics engineers a compact and flexible way to integrate logic, timing, sequencing, monitoring, and analog functions into a single configurable IC. All four μASICs are offered in an ultra-compact 20-pin TQFN package measuring just 2.0 × 3.0 × 0.42 mm.
Each device integrates 27 configurable multifunctional macrocells, including LUTs, flip-flops, latches, timers, pattern generators, a shift register, programmable delay, and edge detection. An integrated I²C interface supports serial communication, configuration control, timer data access, and control of internal outputs.
The devices also feature two oscillators, four analog comparators, a voltage reference, a temperature sensor, and a 100 µA current source. Selected variants additionally offer an analog multiplexer and a second supply rail, allowing engineers to interface between different voltage domains.

Unlike microcontroller-based solutions, μASIC designs use hardware-defined matrix connections and operate without firmware overhead. This enables deterministic, low-power asynchronous operation and simplifies the implementation of functions that would otherwise require multiple discrete ICs and passive components.
Functional reliability is further enhanced by integrated CRC-8 data protection and Continuous Register Verification (CRV). The devices support supply voltages from 1.71 V to 5.50 V and operate across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
The new μASICs can be configured to implement a wide range of commonly required system functions, including:
• Level shifters and I²C level shifters
• PWM and LED controllers
• Overcurrent protection
• Battery monitoring, protection, and charge control
• I/O expanders and I²C-controlled I/O expanders
• Wake-and-sleep controllers
• State machines
• Fault monitors
• Configurable logic
• Multiplexers
• Parallel-to-serial and serial-to-parallel converters
• Signal generators
These and more functions can be implemented individually or combined within a single μASIC, enabling engineers to replace multiple discrete ICs and passive components with one compact, configurable device. The result is a lower component count, smaller PCB footprint, reduced power consumption, and greater design flexibility and reliability.
